What art materials do I need for art therapy online?

You don’t need any special skills or expensive materials to begin art therapy online.

The goal is expression, not perfection.

Here are some basic supplies that work well for most sessions. However, I will send you a list of basic materials before our session together. If you have a preferred medium of choice this is fine too. As both directed and non-directed approaches can be used, this can involve suggesting a particular medium that might be the most appropriate for certain work.

  •  Paper (mix of sizes - plain paper, if you would like coloured paper this is fine too)

  •  Chalk Pastels

  •  Coloured pencils, crayons, markers

  •  Oil pastels

  •  Watercolour or acrylic paints or poster paints

  •  Mix of paintbrush sizes

  •  Pens and pencils

  •  Scissors and glue (optional for collage work)

  •  A sketchbook or notebook (if you like to keep things together)

Before your first session, we’ll discuss what you already have and adapt the process to suit your preferences and resources. Art therapy is about creative exploration, not art technique- all you need is curiosity and a willingness to engage.
